Description:

Argentine Trick, a prominent Spanish card game, holds significant popularity in various countries, including Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Chile. This engaging game features a unique set of 40 Spanish cards, omitting the 8s, 9s, and jokers.

The game revolves around a hierarchy of cards, where each card can only overpower a lower-ranked card. In the case of a tie, the player who initiated the round (the hand) is awarded victory. Each card also possesses a specific score utilized during bidding. A card's score typically aligns with its face value; however, tens, elevens, and twelves score zero. Additionally, a fixed value of 20 is added to the remaining cards' face value, culminating in a maximum bidding score of 33.

The core challenge of Argentine Trick lies in navigating the complex hierarchy of cards, which is structured as follows:

In terms of scoring during gameplay, the "trick" earns 2 points, "retruco" awards 3 points, and a successful "reraise" yields 4 points. Players respond to challenges with options such as "I want," "I do not want," or by choosing to "turn" or "raise"—thereby increasing the stakes within the game. Only the challenged player has the authority to reverse a challenge, and opting for "not wanted" concludes that round.

Argentine Trick can be enjoyed solo or among friends, with applications available for those wishing to engage in matches with unfamiliar players.
